Biography

Catalina was born about 1677 to Luís Martín Serrano and Antonia de Miranda, probably near Chimayó where her father owned land before the Pueblo Rebellion.[1][2] She survived the Pueblo Rebellion in 1680 and lived with her family in Guadalupe del Paso during the Exile.[3] In the 1692 El Paso area census, she was 15 and still living with her family.[1] Nothing else is known about her.

Research Notes

  1. Luis had two different daughters named Catalina, one with each wife. The older Catalina was born about 1677 and was living with her family in 1692. Nothing more is known about her. The younger Catalina was born about 1683 and was called Catalina de Salazar.
